It’s happened; the stars twinkled against the crisp, clear sky, while the moon’s dreamy glow sent dancing shadows of your future wisping into the cool air.
The shiny diamond band of commitment now tied around your finger & mirrored in your hearts glistens through your blurry, love filled eyes.
Well hopefully it may have happened something like that, although usually the proposal stories I hear are more along the lines of;
‘my fiancée decided they didn’t want to go for a walk along the pier, where I had everything set up, as in a candlelight meal, champagne, the works! So much so we almost had a argument..! I had to just drop onto one knee there and then….night-mare, thankfully they still said yes…!’
Well, whatever, the details aren’t important, what’s important is….. you’re getting MARRIED….!!!!!
So, what do you do now……..
It may already be popped depending on how the proposal situation went down, if it is, then pour another, if not, then get a bottle popped.!
You have to tell someone, as in you have to tell someone RIGHT now! So, grab your phone and text your best friends, like now, go do it.!
While you’ve got your phone out, either phone or text your parents now too! You know your mum will never forgive you if you don’t.
Take a couple selfie with your ring hand strategically placed, post it on your favourite social platform and watch the love & likes pour in..!
In days gone by this would wait for the wedding night and if that’s still the case, then cool. However, as most loving relationships involve sex and you’re now both feeling loved up to the max, this most likely feels like the right time to make some sweet love. (every-time I read that last line it’s for some reason in Barry White’s voice!)
Just proceed with caution if it was a public proposal, as in wait till you get home over getting arrested!
Does this need any explanation..?! If you had any inclination at all the proposal would be coming one day, then of course you’ve had some ideas of what you’ll wear. The perfect way to build the excitement is to start looking at those expensive designer wears. So let your fashion desires run wild….
‘Wait, what, before I start to look for venues or other suppliers, I should look at photographers..?! Surely that’s the last thing I need to be looking for..?’ I hear you say.
Well, think about it, which supplier probably knows the most venues in your area and which supplier spends the most time at the most venues? Yep, it’s us photographers!
You may have a certain type and style of venue in mind, if so, how do you find such a venue? Start by looking at photographer’s websites, most have blogs where they post photos from recent weddings, here you’ll not only get ideas for venues, but for all other suppliers too. They might even have a favourite venues blog post like I did back in 2017.
And, if you don’t see what you’re looking for, then ask. If you find a busy photographer and ask them, they are likely to have shot at tons of venues, from the swankiest hotels to the quirkiest farms.
As a case in point, myself and my fiancée are getting married in North Wales next year, we’d searched and searched for venues, but in the end it was a photographer contact who recommended the slightly off piste venue, Bach Wen, that fitted what we wanted perfectly.
Ok, now you have some ideas. Go find that venue! Google search, browse wedding blogs and get stuck into the fun and excitement of going to look at them! Then, let the planning begin! Good Luck.. and CONGRATULATIONS..!!
