Let’s Go Outside..!
Spring has sprung and what better reason is there to get outside for your family photoshoot?
Why an outdoor photoshoot?
An outdoor family photoshoot can add an extra layer of personality to your finished photographs compared to a studio photoshoot.
The pressure’s off, there’s no need to be perfectly prepared or worry if your sweet little monsters will take instructions. You can now look at your family photoshoot as an extra family day. We can head to your favourite outdoor family spot; We can feed the ducks during a family photoshoot in Millhouses Park, we can venture out to the Peak District where the children can run wild amongst the heather (I’ll try to keep up!) and jump off rocks, we can stroll down by the river or just chill out in your garden, the choice is yours – heck, we can even jump in the car and head to the beach!
What’s the style of photography?
The style of photography will be a blend of documenting the day, much as I would a wedding and also of portraits that really show personality, children’s photoshoots outside when the kids are relaxed and full of life allow for personality to be captured beautifully.
What’s the best location?
An ideal location for an outdoor family photoshoot is one where you’re relaxed as a family, this can be somewhere familiar if you have a favourite spot, or a new location can work just as well to add the element of adventure for your little explorers!
Some ideas would be; the woods, the hills, near water, in the park or anywhere else you feel would work well for a family photoshoot. I have some ideas and top secret spots we can use if you give me an idea of the type of location you’d like..!
How does the weather effect the shoot? (What if it rains?!)
It’s likely this is how you’re picturing your outdoor family photoshoot; Your children running freely through sun bathed fields beneath clear blue skies. And, hey, it does make nice photos, however we can produced the goods in pretty much any conditions. I’m experienced enough to be able to handle the most adverse weather conditions and just imagine the photos you can create with excited children, dressed head to toe in waterproofs and some BIG puddles!
However, if getting the brollies out just isn’t an option, you’d be surprised at what we can create within your own home, natural, fun children’s portraits.
The last resort is to re-arrange for better weather, however it’s unlikely this will need to happen.
What’s the best time for the shoot?
There’s a few things to consider when deciding upon the best time of day for your outdoor photo-shoot. It may depend on the age of your children and when they are ‘at their best’. Try to avoid times when they might be overly tired.
In terms of light conditions, sunrise (yes, you can get me up that early if you want!) and sunset both have the potential to produce stunning images if it’s a clear day. Especially in early spring while the sunset isn’t too late, this is a great option. However, anytime we can fit it in should be great, with advantages to moody skies and overcast days too.
How long is the shoot?
The photoshoot will last around 90 minutes, it will depend a little on the location, number of people and ages of children and so may be a little shorter or longer than this. However 90 minutes is usually about the right amount of time to get familiar with me, with the surroundings and to produce some amazing shots!
What are the costs?
I charge a flat rate of just
£350.00 £250.00 (limited time only) for an outdoor family photoshoot and this also includes the full set of images provided on a USB, inclusive of copyright license for you to use as you wish. This covers any location within reason, if we are heading to the coast ( yes, I was serious with the beach talk!), then we may need to discuss small extra cost to cover travel.
